On March 24, a group of community members met to take the next step in making Wilsonville a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable place!
Quick recap
WAIC is a non-profit! Similar to our sister organization, the West Linn Alliance for Inclusive Community, we have teamed with the Charitable Partnership Fund to provide us our non-profit status.
We discussed the May election for the West Linn-Wilsonville school board and whether we should create a questionnaire, which would be similar to our efforts in the last Wilsonville city council and mayoral election. WAIC will not be making a candidate endorsement.
Local officials reached out to WAIC and asked us to help with COVID vaccination outreach, especially for historically and currently underserved or underrepresented populations (e.g. Black, Latino, disability, etc.). We discussed how WAIC could play a role in helping with outreach and making connections.
We talked about updates on our 2021 activities. The community police oversight group has been following what West Linn has been doing to set up a community oversight and accountability board. For the Undoing Racism training, we reached out to the city manager to see how our effort could coordinate with the newly launching Diversity Equity Inclusion Committee.
Action items
