Update on Important Housing Project

Since last summer, the City has been working on a project to review the City’s residential zoning standards and policies to be more inclusive of a variety of housing types and forms to meet the various housing needs of our community members. The project team has received a lot of great input through public forums, focus groups, interviews, and an online survey. The package of recommended code and policy changes is nearing completion and the City is hosting a final public forum to clarify the changes, explain how previous public input was incorporated, and answer your questions. Please mark your calendar for Tuesday July 20 at 6:00 p.m. to attend and learn more about this important project. Use this Zoom link to participate: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87436891301

As the City works on this housing project, it seeks to facilitate inclusive neighborhoods and compliance with new State laws, including Oregon House Bill 2001 passed in 2019, which requires a broader allowance of middle housing in single-family neighborhoods. Middle housing includes housing types where a few homes are on one lot (duplex, triplex) and where homes are on separate lots that share a common wall (townhouses). The City is taking a thoughtful approach with this project working with the community to answer the question: ‘how can our regulations serve as a catalyst for an array of housing types that meet pressing current and future needs?’

City Council will look to adopt final recommendations in October. For more information on the project you can visit https://www.letstalkwilsonville.com/middle-housing-code-update or contact Daniel Pauly, Planning Manager, at 503-570-1536 or pauly@ci.wilsonville.or.us
